The hut typically welcomes guests from mid-June to mid-September and offers a total of 24 sleeping places. Originally known as Sachsendankhütte, it owes its existence to the generous donation of the Saxon writer Richard von Meerheim. They are named after the English alpinist Francis Fox Tuckett and the Italian naturalist Quintino Sella, the founder of the Italian Alpine Club CAI. This region is also a paradise for via ferrata enthusiasts, as it is home to some of the best via ferratas in the Dolomites, including the Sentiero Benini and the Sentiero delle Bocchette Alte. From here, visitors enjoy spectacular views of the majestic Brenta Dolomites and the surrounding mountain landscape. The huts are open from mid-June to mid-September and offer guests a warm alpine atmosphere.

Outside of the hut season, the region entices with beautiful ski slopes and breathtaking descents, while the hut's winter room provides sheltered accommodation for skiers.
Place 2: Rifugio Lagazuoi, Fanes Group, Italy
The Rifugio Lagazuoi, located at 2,752 m, offers unparalleled views of the majestic Dolomites. Since the 1960s, it has been exclusively managed by the Pompanin family, starting with the passionate alpinist Ugo Pompanin. The hut houses one of the most beautiful panoramic terraces in the Dolomites and a unique sauna barrel at 2,746 m altitude. Thanks to the cable car, it is easily accessible, even for less experienced hikers. Lagazuoi is an accessible mountain and open to everyone, even wheelchair users, as confirmed by journalist Valentina Tomirotti. With its location in the picturesque Dolomit Superski region, it is also a perfect place for a break or an overnight stay in winter.
Place 1: Olpererhütte, Zillertal Alps, Austria
The Olpererhütte in Austria secures first place as the most photographed hut with almost 30,000 Instagram posts. Located at 2,389 m above sea level in the Zillertal Alps High Mountain Nature Park, it normally welcomes guests between early June and early October. The location offers breathtaking views of the Schlegeis reservoir, one of Austria's largest reservoirs, built between 1965 and 1971. Another highlight from the Olpererhütte is the Zillertal suspension bridge, also known as the Kebema Panorama Bridge, just 150 m away. It offers a unique view of the Schlegeis reservoir. This spot has become a popular Instagram hotspot in summer, attracting many visitors. A clever camera perspective can create the impression that the suspension bridge leads directly over the reservoir, although it only hovers a few metres above a small river that flows into the reservoir. The Olpererhütte is also a popular destination for the Alpine crossing tour.
To evaluate these results: In autumn 2023, Snowtrex examined a total of 970 mountain huts on Instagram. The number of posts was extracted, and a ranking of the most mentioned huts was created based on this data.
